Obside vs Capitalise.ai: Which Should Automate Your Trading?

Both let you automate trading in plain English, but they solve different problems. Capitalise.ai is a free rule engine that lives inside partner brokers; Obside is an AI copilot that sits on top of your existing accounts. Here is an honest comparison from the team behind Obside.

Side-by-side comparison of Obside and Capitalise.ai trading automation interfaces

Full disclosure before anything else: we build Obside. You should read this comparison knowing that. We have tried to keep every factual claim about Capitalise.ai accurate and current as of August 2026, and we tell you explicitly below when Capitalise.ai is the better choice — because for some traders it clearly is.

The two products get compared constantly because they share one headline feature: you type a trading rule in plain English and it becomes a live automation. Under that surface, they are built for different users, distributed differently, and priced differently.

The short version

Capitalise.ai is a trading automation engine distributed through brokers. If your broker has partnered with Capitalise.ai, you get a chat-like interface where you write if-then rules ("buy 10 shares of AAPL if it crosses above its 50-day moving average"), backtest them, simulate them, and let them execute on your account. For the end trader it is typically free — the broker pays for the integration.

Obside is an AI copilot that connects to the brokerage accounts you already have (30+ brokers across the US, Europe, Canada, Australia and India — some tradeable, some read-only). Automation rules are one part of it: the same chat also explains what you hold, monitors news, macro events and prices around your positions, sends you briefs and alerts, backtests ideas, paper trades them, and — on paid plans — executes real orders. It has a free plan, with paid plans from $39/month (USD baseline; pricing localizes by country).

If you only want free rule-based execution and your broker happens to be a Capitalise.ai partner, Capitalise.ai is hard to argue with. If you want an AI layer over your whole portfolio — or your broker isn't on their partner list — that is the gap Obside was built to fill.

Where each one runs

This is the most important practical difference, and it is not about features.

Capitalise.ai is only available through partner brokers. Their partners are concentrated among CFD and forex brokers, plus notable names like Interactive Brokers and Binance. If your broker is on the list, activation is seamless and execution happens natively in your account. If your broker is not on the list, there is no way to use Capitalise.ai with it — you would have to open an account at a partner broker first.

Obside connects from the outside. It links to your existing accounts via secure aggregation, so it works with mainstream retail brokers — Interactive Brokers, Trading 212, Degiro, eToro, Robinhood, Fidelity, Coinbase, Kraken, Binance and many others. The trade-off is honesty about access levels: on some brokers Obside can read and trade; on others (Interactive Brokers among them) the connection is currently read-only — you get monitoring, analysis, alerts and paper trading, but live order execution depends on the broker's connectivity. The supported brokers page lists exactly which is which, because nothing erodes trust faster than discovering a limitation after signing up.

Automation depth

Both platforms translate plain English into executable rules, and both handle the classic technical triggers: price levels, moving averages, RSI, time-based orders, position sizing.

Capitalise.ai's rule engine is mature and precise. It has been refining if-then trading grammar for years, the backtesting and simulation loop is tight, and because execution happens inside the broker, order handling is native.

Obside's automations reach for a wider set of inputs. Agents can combine price action with news, macroeconomic releases and fundamentals — rules like "alert me if any of my holdings drops more than 5% on negative news" or "reduce my tech exposure if CPI comes in above consensus" are the kind of thing the platform is designed for. Obside agents can also run against a paper portfolio first, and the same engine powers alerts-only agents for people who want signals without automated execution.

One more structural difference: Obside is also usable from other AIs. Paid plans include MCP (Model Context Protocol) connections, so you can plug your Obside account into Claude or ChatGPT and query your portfolio or drive your agents from there.

Portfolio intelligence

Capitalise.ai does not try to be a portfolio analysis tool. It automates the rules you give it, and it does that well.

Obside's starting point is the opposite: connect a portfolio first, understand it, then automate. The copilot answers questions about exposure, dividends, sector concentration and performance, generates scheduled briefs, and surfaces the news that actually concerns what you hold. If your main pain is "I don't have time to watch my portfolio", that layer matters more than any individual trading rule.

Pricing

  • Capitalise.ai: free for traders at partner brokers. The broker carries the cost.
  • Obside: free plan (100 credits/month, one active agent, alerts and stock paper trading); Plus at $39/month; Pro at $69/month, which unlocks live trading; Max at $119/month with unlimited active agents. Prices are USD baselines — checkout localizes to your country. Details on the pricing page.

Free is free, and we won't pretend otherwise: if Capitalise.ai covers your broker and your needs, it is the cheaper option. You pay Obside for the AI layer, the multi-broker coverage and the portfolio intelligence, not for the privilege of writing if-then rules.

Choose Capitalise.ai if…

  • Your broker is a Capitalise.ai partner and you want automation inside that account.
  • Your automation needs are purely technical triggers on specific instruments.
  • Free matters more to you than portfolio-level intelligence.

Choose Obside if…

  • You want to keep the broker(s) you already use — especially mainstream retail brokers in Europe or North America that Capitalise.ai does not cover.
  • You want your automations to react to news, macro data and fundamentals, not only price.
  • You want one place that explains, monitors, backtests, paper trades and executes — rather than a rule engine alone.
  • You want to connect your portfolio to Claude or ChatGPT via MCP.

FAQ

For the end trader at a partner broker, yes — the broker pays for the integration. The catch is availability: if your broker has no Capitalise.ai partnership, you cannot use it there at all.
